A Stone Veneer Kitchen Island

If you recall, I recently posted about our kitchen island and asked for advice and opinions on how to redo it. Well, last night the solution hit me like a ton of bricks (no pun intended) .

We received the samples of the tin tiles I had ordered, and while one of them ‘wasn’t bad’, I could tell that idea wasn’t going to work. I was seriously considering doing a board and batten treatment, and actually may still go that route if for some reason the stone doesn’t work out.  I did a search and found a picture that convinced me this idea may fit the bill. I even like the colors they used, although I think we need to stay away from light greys due to our cabinets, I think very dark greys will work nicely, or maybe something with more earth tones. Not sure yet about that as I will have to see what’s available.

I’m not sure how or if we will finish off the bottom, where the island meets the floor, and I’m still uncertain about the countertop, but I’m kinda psyched I thought of this option. I think it works with the rustic theme of the house so I’m hoping it’s doable and that I can find stone that doesn’t look fake.  Hopefully we can get started on this project no later than April.

Thanks for all your suggestions and help!
